Doing-Things-Better Challenge # 13: Trash the Trash Bags
[Nov 27, 09 byOur last challenge was to shop with reusable bags. This is a terrific thing to do. But, it seems that the more people do this, the more sales of commercial trash bags go up. It seems many people used the plastic bags from the stores as trash bags. I know I did. But it doesn’t make sense to prevent plastic use somewhere, only to use it somewhere else.

“Doing Things Better” Challenge # 12: Bag the Habit
[Nov 7, 09 byYou may have noticed that “Green” Challenge has been changed to “Doing Things Better” Challenge. The reason for that is, while the word “green” has become a useful term for referring to all things earth-friendly, studies show that people are getting sick of hearing it. And at Go Lightly, we are not trying to shove eco-consciousness down anybody’s throat, we are just trying to help bring about a better, healthier world. So instead of challenging ourselves to be green, let’s think of it as simply learning to do things in a better way. Because that’s what it’s about. It’s not a trend, it’s not a catch-phrase, it’s about a better way of life. It’s about evolving. And we should never get sick of doing that, right?

Green Challenge # 11: Opt-Out of Junk Mail
[Nov 7, 09 byDon’t you wish you could just opt-out of annoying things- like traffic jams, lines at the post office… Well, one annoying thing that you can opt out of is junk mail. By taking the time to opt-out of the following “direct mail” sources, you will see the junk mail that comes to your mail box decrease dramatically. And the benefits of that are not only good for the planet, but for your psyche.
